Finally,
five months in the making,
my latest guitar videos are online.
Only two videos were realized for this acoustic-only collection
and over the summer I shall include numerous others as I complete
more new works. Without farther adieu, I introduce to my friends,
online and not, my two personal favorite guitar pieces:

These
two works reflect a very peculiar aspect of my playing that I
rarely exhibit, that is, an economy of notes and restraint. I
purposely challenged myself to create pieces that were soothing,
comforting to the listener, without the impeding ego of the musician,
or in this case performer. Noting the grandiose characteristics
that had marred my own previous works and technical abilities
in the past, I refrained from the usual embellishments in an effort
to overcome these problems and the final results, in my opinion,
are genuine, soulful, and played with grace.
After
last fall's electric exploration of new works, located on the
guitar w.i.p. page, and my Mariachi
project in August,
I yearned for the opportunity to create even more new music. Without
the aids of any technology, reverb, chorus, distortion, or otherwise,
I set forth to compose these new works in the seclusion of my
girlfriend's apartment. Adhering
to my promise for a more accessible sound, I went through the
laborious process of composing utilizing only chords as a means
for a musical foundation. Restraint, and the realization that
less-is-more, was a difficult discipline for me and the transformation
that has resulted from such an undertaking has forever changed
the way I compose and play the acoustic guitar. Finally, after
months of talking, promising, and making excuses, the first couple
of videos have finally been realized and released with my own
personal blessings. I dedicate these videos to my wonderful girlfriend
Edith on the day of our six month anniversary, for it was her
that patiently listened to me play countless nights for months;
ignoring the mistakes, curses, expletives and all, without hesitation
or complaints, and only spoke words of encouragement and praise.
